BlackArmor NAS Network Storage Server

Hi Board,

This summer, I bought the 420 and copied my music to the Our Music folder, turned on "iTunes" and Media share on the preinstalled firmware. The songs appeared in iTunes under SHARED>BlackArmor.  I updated the firmware. Now within iTunes, when I click on BlackArmor under Shared, iTunes tries to load music from the BlackArmor NAS (you can see this up-top on the status bar in iTunes).  Then iTunes jumps abruptly to the default LIBRARY>Music (my locally stored music).  I can access other shared libraries, such as my wife's.  So, I think it has to do with the NAS.

What I have tried:

• I have tried rebooting the NAS.
• In the Black Armor system management tool, I have tried disabling, submitting, and re-enabling the Media Service under MEDIA.
• Under STORAGE>Shares, I disabled, submitted and reenabled Media Service here in the Modify properties for Public shares.

Any thoughts on why iTunes can see but can not connect to/read the BlackArmor iTunes server?

• Why are there two places to enable media service in the Black Armor setup?  Do they need to be enabled in a particular order?
• Are there any other services that run on the local computer that require synchronization with the BA server, like system clocks?  If so, how does the Black Armor server update its system clock?

What else might I try?

Me too. BlackArmor 110. Latest firmware update. It did appear when I had only a few songs, then transferred about 250GB across and no more. Is it trying to build a library index and failing to complete perhaps? Have set my 'look for new songs' setting to 1 day to see....

Same issue with BlackArmor NAS220: worked fine initially with just a few files, has stopped to work now. Also have more than 256 GB of media on the drive, also set the check frequency to 1 day.

Didn't do a firmware update since it last worked (which was on Dec 31st 2010). Maybe I got beyond a crucial size limit on Jan 2nd, or the NAS can't stand the new year.

Kind of the same problem here.  Sharing just stopped working sometime around New Years.  I can see the Black Armor in the list of shares in iTunes.  But when I click on the Black Armor in shares, it opens another window like normal and looks like its trying to load the shared library, but then it shuts the window and goes back to the regular iTunes library.  Very frustrating.

I have put all my music files into a share named "media". The only other share on my BA is "wiki", there is no "public" share or anything else. May this be the source of the problem?

Media service i senabled at 2 different levels: at the level of the share ("media", it is disabled for the share "wiki") and at the level of the NAS (Media->Media Service). The Xbox compatibility is disabled. Sorting method for DMS propreties : by name.

(iTunes) check for new music every: 1h.

My BA is visible in iTunes in the "shared" section. However when I try to access it, it goes back to the local "music" section after a split second. Apparently, itunes can't load the content of my BA.

Thoughts?
