My 12TB NAS suddenly went offline while I was copying a file, I tried to login but the NAS was completely offline. I checked the drives and sure enough disk 4 was showing an amber light although the buttons to access the display seemed to have frozen. I rebooted the NAS and disk 4 booted as normal, showing no problems. I logged into BlackArmor Manager and noticed all disks were healthy but the RAID5 volume had failed. I decided to pull disk 4 and plug it back in, the disk booted fine. I then selected the reclaim icon and waited for the disk to finish reclaiming. I then selected the volume but noticed the recover icon missing, I only have the 'add' icon.
I would be grateful if someone can explain how I can recover the RAID volume, should I replace disk 4 anyway? Will I need to update the firmware, and if so, will I lose any data? Can I assume the data is safe on the other 3 drives or has something gone badly wrong?
Hope you can help, thanks in-advance.

Updating the firmware to the most recent version should correct the issue.
Prior to doing so, please be sure to back up your data. This should work even though the device is in degraded mode.
Firmware downloads for the NAS drives are available here:
Additionally it would be good to test the drives with SeaTools. To do this, you'll need to remove the individual drives from the enclosure, then connect them to a computer and test them.
