Hi everyone - we're about to start a beta test for the BlackArmor NAS 110 only. If you're interested in participating you can either respond to this post or send a PM to me, AskTheLeaf.
The beta test will be for US and Canada only at this time.

Any details about the Beta test ? A new firmware with some enhancements / corrections ?

PM Sent - would like to help in any testing that might improve this thing!

I'm in if it will fix my global access issue.

I'll be happy to revive my old NAS 110 if it will help make it useful. As it stands today it is slow, not reliable, and we are afraid of using it. We are in fear of the drive failing (known HDD clicking issues), firmware updates and not knowing what will be non-functional anymore, can not regain backup licenses if you upgrade your computer, connectivity issues with Global Access (slow, unreliable, can not see full filenames), FTP SSL non-compliant, etc..
Hopefully this will lead to a useful NAS

I have an NAS 110 which is always a worry as its blue light for system OK comes and goes at will, windows 7 always declares it an alert in device manager, and my Linux machines aren't recognized at all. If you've got solutions for those things I'm happy to be a part of your Beta test. Teacup

It's been a week since this notification has been posted. Has anyone heard from Seagate? I know I haven't.

We are still in the process of setting up the beta test, but it's almost ready for launch.

I'm in - This is good time for me to turn over a new leaf (no pun intended) with my NAS 110 because it crashed and I just received the warrantee replacement. I've had it for while and limited its use to local backups, but I'm very interested in its other advertised capabilities (if they can reliably work).

AskTheLeaf,
I got a email notice yesterday about a new service for Global Access. Is this what the beta testing is all about? No firmware to make the NAS 110 function as it should. Global Access is an issue but the functionality of the NAS (SSL FTP, Transfer Speeds, true DNLA compatibility, Backup (transfer license when a computer is replaced), etc..) are what most of us bought the NAS for. Are these going to be addressed?

I am willing to participate in a beta test.

Has anyone received new information about the beta test? Can we get more information about the beta test?

Would be happy to participate in the beta.

I would be very interested in beta testing the NAS 110 firmware

I am interested as well. Look forward to some fixes.

Count me in for some Beta testing. Have owned the NAS 110 since release.

I've received the notice in my email and have signed and sent it back today.
Thank you.

I have several NAS 110 units. Would love to help with firmware update testing.

Is the beta testing related to Global Access or does it involve new firmware for the NAS110? I haven't heard or received anything about the beta testing.

As I stated in a earlier post ... All I EVER received was a notification and sign-in to a Beta Test Site for "Global Access". This is NOT what I thought for Beta Testing. We need serious NAS fixes and proper firmware. I have not signed up for the Beta Test site for Global Access as this is a waste of my time if that is all Seagate is going to do.
As you can see from any Seagate posts to this thread they don't even seem interested in their own requests for volunteers.

I truly believe this whole thread is a HOAX on Seagates behalf .... very sad!

I do own a NAS 110 and would be happy to help beta test.
I am actually experiencing difficulty with my NAS110. I had created a post with the hope to get some help with this unit, but I have not received any responses. I hope you can help me.
When NAS110 is running the left LED light is blue and blinks in a steady pattern. The right LED is also blue, but it blinks rapidly but in no recognizable pattern. While the the LED's are this way, I can hear the drive clinking (or pulsing) inside the NAS110. Eventually, the processing sound of the drive slows down and the blue LEDs will stop blinking and stay on. When the drive stops processing and the blue LEDS are not blinking, the drive shuts-down and restarts. The blue LEDS color changes to an amber color for about two or three seconds then the NAS will restart; and then the process repeats.
I do sincerely appreciate any troubleshooting guidance to resolve this issue you can offer.
Thanks.
Dave.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing drive issues with your BlackArmor NAS110. Have you tried a pinhole reset? Press a paper clip into the reset button located on the bottom of the drive and hold it for at least 30 seconds.
Does the drive behavior continue? Let me know and we'll take it from there.
