DiscWizard compatibility

Greetings to all,

I received a portable hard drive as a gift.  It did not come with any pre-installed software and, inasmuch as I am pretty much a computer 'newb', I am at a loss just what type of software, if any, can be installed in order for me to be able to use this HD to backup my computer system.

The HD is in a generic case but I have been able to determine that it is a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 SATA 160GB..Model ST9100828AS.  It is powered by USB cable.

My OS is Windows Vista Home Basic.

Question:  I am on dialup and before I spend 'a month of Sundays' downloading the DiscWizard, can anyone advise if DiscWizard is compatible with this drive model/usb connection to enable me to clone/backup my Vista system??

Thanks,

Re: DiscWizard compatibility

DiscWizard will work to clone your system, so that would be a good choice.  You might just go somewhere, some other computer, where there's hi speed Internet, download it and take it back to your PC and create the CD.
But yes, it should work with your drive.  I've done the same thing, cloned a non-Seagate drive to a Seagate external drive like yours, and then cloned it back.  Worked great.

Re: DiscWizard compatibility

Hi Jan,

The main purpose for the external drive is to maintain a backup of my internal drive which, by the way, is a Seagate Barracuda 7200 120GB (model  ST3120213AS).  ROTFLOL but until now I wasn't aware of what make/model my internal drive was.  Your message prompted me to check.  Thanks :smileyvery-happy:

Unfortunately, I live out in the 'boonies' and dialup is the only game in town.  I'll just set up the download to run after I go to bed tonight.  I just didn't want to waste my time in downloading something that might not have been of any use.  As I said, I'm a newbie and all this is very foreign to me.

I appreciate your time; thanks for the response.

Regards,
