GoFlex Net & GoFlex Home

I just purchased the GoFlex Desk external drive, which is connected directly to a Netgear router. My laptop with Windows 7 connected fine and ran a successful backup. My laptop with XP can't see the drive, even though it is on the local network and able to access the Internet and wireless printer. I've tried the troubleshooting steps as well as entering \\goflex_home into the "Run" option in the start menu. Both computers use Windows Firewall. Other ideas? Thank you!

The USB drive isn't supported when it's attached to the router's USB port. Try directly connecting it to the system - is it then detected?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I may have misrepresented what I have. I initially bought the GoFlex Desk, and found that it was not compatible with my Netgear router. So I exchanged it for GoFlex Home, which connects to the router using an ethernet cable (rather than USB). I don't believe I can connect it directly to a laptop. Should I post my question to a different forum?
