Hi, everyone. New here, so apologies if this has been asked before!
I have a 2tb Goflex home, and just bought a 3tb Backup plus. I want to connect them both together, and be able to access them across my home network.
The Goflex home, is plugged directly into my router, and the backup plus, I have plugged into the usb port on the front of the Goflex Home.
In my ignorance, I kind of hoped it was as simple as that, and letting the drive detect, then show as an additional network drive. However, the Backup plus is not showing up.
Is it possible to do what I am wanting to do, and if so, can anyone advise how to configure it please?
Thanks in advance.

Try creating a single GPT partition on the 3TB drive using Seagate Disk Wizard
And don't beat yourself up- It should be as simple as plugging it into the USB port and for drives smaller than 2.2TB it is.
But 3TB drives come with multiple partitions as spanned volumes for compatibility with Windows XP and the Goflex Home doesn't like that.

I also just bought a 3TB backup plus. Questions:
1) Since the GoFlex only has a USB2.0 connector what sort of speed degregation will there be compared to connecting directly to a USB 3.0 port?
2) Can these drives coexist on the same LAN? I had issues with the goflex when the BUP was also connected to my laptop directly.

I don't think the USB being 2.0 instead of 3.0 will make much difference. The write speed to the main SATA drive is not much better than 30MB/sec. The processor on the GoFlex Home is not capable of much more.
Writing to the BUP connected to the GFH over the network will definitely be slower than writing to it when it's connected directly to your laptops USB3.0 port, but the advantage is that it can be accessed by other machines when your laptop is off.
There shouldn't be any issues with a GFH on a LAN and a BUP connected to your laptop BUT it is possible that there will be conflicts with the Dashboard software and Memeo if you are using the software for both.
You do not need the Dashboard for the GoFlex Home. You probably don't need it for the Backup Plus unless you want the social network backup features.
