Today my one touch 4 mini was scheduled for it's weekly backup. When I came home I saw the M icon was brown meaning the drive was not recognized. The back up log showed an error ">>>>> the drives serial number Destination is not accesible".
I'm sure the drive was recognized and connected (green M icon) before I left. The power is on (the 4mini is powered by USB) but no matter what I do it is not being recognized. I can feel it spin as I power it up. The power light flashes once or twice then stays lit. But there is nothing but the brown M icon and it is not recognized in maxtor manager, my computer, device manager, etc.
I would have thought the drive might be dead but the fact I can feel it spin and hum when powered up has me confused. I don't have another pc to plug it into but when plugged in to my wifes Mac it said something about unusable files...so it appears it was being recognized on that computer. Very confused. Any thoughts?
edit: On further investigation it seems any device connected to any of my USB ports is not recognized. The ports are providing power, the devices such as digital camera, iPod and OneTouch 4 Mini are not being recognized. Any thoughts on this?
