Hi I have a 500 gb expansion portable drive with P/N: 9SD2A4-500 and S/N:[ Edited to comply with forum guidelines ]When i connect my hard disk to my PC it keeps on getting disconnected when i try to enter the hard disk. But when i connect to my laptop it does not give me this problem. This has started recently and is bugging me as i have to connect the hard disk to the laptop and copy the contents to the pen drive each time i want to access stuff on my PC. Besides had checked the power for the USB root hub its showing 500mA for each port, 7 ports. Hard disk consumes 100mA. Thanks
This may be an issue with the computer Operating System, since the drive is working on your other computer. On your desktop, does the drive disconnect only when you try to access the drive, or does the drive disconnect on its own without you trying to access the drive? You can also test the drive with our diagnostic and repair program on your laptop. That would let you know if the drive is having any issues or not. Actually it happens in both cases. Mostly when i connect it hard disk gives a sound (chick) ant the pc displays a format the hard disk message. Even when it detects and remains and i try to acess it and as soon i enter a polder it gets dissconnected.
