Hi,
I have an old Maxtor OneTouch II which I'm trying to use with Windows 7.
The unit is correct identified in Device Manager as "Maxtor Onetouch II USB Device" and the disk shows up in Disk Management. Initially you can format the drive and it will be allocated a drive letter and function fine.
A couple days later when the PC is started the OneTouch will still be detected within Device Manager, but Disk Management will show the drive as being Unknown/Not Initialised and Unallocated.
If reformat the disk using Disk Management then again it will be allocated a drive letter, appear to work fine for several days, and then suddenly on the next start again be shown in disk management as Unknown/Not Initialised and Unallocated.
I've run SeaTools on the unit, and this appears to show that in it's opinion everything is fine (based on Short Generic).
Any thoughts as to what is going wrong please?.
Thank you
Iain
