Ok, so i recently (yesterday) bought a free agent 1.5TB goflex, and installed it. Once done, i click the seagate dashboard icon, it will launch, say connecting to services for about 2 mins, then say seagate dashboard services is not started, in order to start the application need this service installed and running. I've installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled, googled for hours, but i cnt find the solution, help?!

I'll admit I don't know what the purpose of the Dashboard software is, but I can say that you don't need it.
Maybe you need it for the Memeo backup software but unless that was the main reason for getting the drive then you are better off without it.
I have two Seagate External drives and I have not even tried installing the software. I wipe all the Seagate stuff off the drive and just use them like a normal drive.
Doesn't it show up in Windows File Explorer / Mac Finder?

Hello I have the same Problem and I solve it , please Follow these steps:
Go to start , Write in the search box "Services" and open it (another way go to control panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools -> then click on Services)
Inside Services find in the name column "Seagate DashBoard Services" then right click on it and then click start.
finally open the Seagate Dashboard and enjoy ![]()

I've managed to install the Dashboard, I was going to use it to do Backups using the supplied Software.
But is this Software reliable or should I just delete it & buy a dedicated Package?
If delete what should I buy?

Here's a suggestion Cobian backup - It's free but seems to be supported by the developer.
I don't use it or the bundled software from Seagate. I gave up on Memeo instant backup and prefer to do my backups manually, but if you need backup software then give Cobian a shot.
