I purchased the FreeAgent GoFlex ultraportable 1 TB USB 3.0 drive to use with my PowerPC Powerbook running OS 10.4.11. (Specs say it should work.) I plugged it into my USB 2.0 port and saw the drive. When I tried to install Paragon using the Mac installer, the installer could not launch - the install icon would only transiently appear in the dock.
I decided I would try to reformat the external drive in Mac format, since using it with a PC was not crucial, using disk utility. That failed with an error message that the disk couldn't unmount. (I was also unable to eject the drive becuase it was supposedly in use.)
I plugged in an old Seagate drive (FreeAgent GoFlex Pro Ultra 500 GB) that I've used successfully with Macs and PCs (although not yet with this Mac). I successfully loaded the Mac driver from this drive onto my laptop - version 8.0, in case that's relevant. I hoped that I might be set. However, the installation and activation required a restart of my computer. After doing so, I do not see either Seagate drive on my desktop (or the Macinstall dmg)! Restart again and still no drives.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
