Hello,

can I install XP on a Barracuda Green 2000GB ST2000DL003? The drive has 4k sectors and SmartAlign. Does that mean, that XP sees 512Byte sectors and work fine on that drive?

Get Windows 7, it will like the disk a lot better

XP will not be very good on the 4K disks as its built around 512B sectors.

If you slave the disk to an existing machine and format it with 4K clusters, it should be OK once you align it.
