Thx Hammy, it is amazing how many ppl will blame a product because they either don't understand it or mistreat it.
Ok there have been issues in the past, the 11 series drives had the bricking, the 12 haven't yet ppl still instantly think it's bad FW, other's try to Raid without checking the class of Raid their MB supports and also buy an Eco drive and expect an Enterprise ones performance, and again don't check to see what class the drive supports, the cheap ones are Raid 0 & 1, but still ppl try to use Raid 5 & 10 with these drives and wonder why it doesn't stay stable.
What people should ask themselves is would they sit in a sauna all day and feel fine afterwards, that is what they do to a HDD when they fit it in a small case with 1 exhaust fan and supply grey power from a $2 PSU, but try getting anyone to understand that.
I don't like to say this and perhaps I shouldn't, but to the OP, you know where WD are, go try them, pay more and face the same issues, otherwise find some class and stay here and when issues do crop up we will try to help you willingly.

Lots of variables with that mate, depends which country, OEM or Retail version, and if you bought with 3 yrs warranty you get 3 yrs warranty unless where you bought from has lied to you, then that becomes an issue with them not Seagate.

OEM is always 1 year mate.
RETAIL is the 1-5 year period.
You buy OEM cos it has no box or accessories and is cheaper.

I think you are correct Much, they don't seem to be a resiliant as they were, but looking at your rig I doubt you will have any issues anyway, half the time the stuff dies is because it's not hooked in with the correct stuff to compliment it, what they don't say when they post is how they have tried to run a 2TB drive on a 220w 8 year old PC in a one fan case, not all obviously.
So far my record with using Seagate/Maxtor is one brick which I fixed myself, one dropped early 250GB Maxline which now just whines and won't do anything, another 250GB which is now showing 0% health in monitoring but is 7 years old iirc, an old 120GB ide Maxtor that recently went clacking in the kids machine, a machine I'll add that is a sweatshop in metal, one I purchased before I knew any better, another 40GB which is in the sweat case now, I don't care because when it fails it fails, a working Freeagent and the 3TB which is a magic drive, had it around 8-9 mths now and it's still tip top, so overall if they are as bad as some like to say I wouldn't buy them anymore, and the only drive I've ever had completely fail on me within 3 mths was a WD one.
As for me being active on here it's because it's a community forum not a support forum, I don't say I'm an expert but I have sorted a lot of folks problems out for them, the mods are only really here to ensure fair play tbh with the odd bit of help if they have time, one thing you must realise is I'm 1000's of miles from a lot of people and I only have what they say to work with, if I was in the room I could say, broke or not set up right, I start with the simple stuff because who wants a full engine rebuild when it was simply a spark plug, tech moves along fast now and it's a job to keep up, I've bben out today and upgraded my rig to i5 so I can test the 3TB @ 6GB/s and see if any of the problems appear for me, but without it what can I say having never used the latest bios etc, I just try to help, and when I see titles like this I don't think it represents the company in a true light, the guy who posted it obviously isn't from an English speaking country and some of the support around the world is poor I admit, particularly the Asia India area.
As for OEM I was always led to believe it was 1 year and you got it without a box, maybe it's different now, if the checker says different then thats a bonus, anyway if you ever need help I will try to help you, not that I think I will need to because looking at your rig you seem to know what to choose and that normally means you won't treat it like an old car you don't care about.
