I thought my new 2TB GoFlex Desk External Drive was backing up but got locked out

What? I bought a 2TB GoFlex Desk  External Drive, I tried a few times to register and couldn't, but thought nothing of it because my computer told me files were being backed up daily. The day came when II lost all my backed up files, even my online favorites etc.. I was locked out and told I needed to buy a driver for 30 bucks or pay for a online backup plan. It seemed that I had inadvertently signed up for some online plan instead of installing my external drive. Now for some reason I can't find the driver without paying for it.

Wrong forum, this is for internal drives...

Partially why you may not have had a response just yet too.

Were you using the Memeo software that came with the drive or something else?

Do you have a folder on your external drive that is titled your name or the computer name "_backup"??

And is this a costco drive or did you purchase the drive somewhere else? (There are differences in software, which is why I'm asking the question.)

To all users: If your data is stored ONLY on an external hard drive, then it is NOT a backup. A BACKUP is having the data stored in TWO or MORE locations. If it is only in ONE location, you don't have a backup at all. If the data is important to you, then have it stored in multiple locations to prevent data loss.
