I purchased a Backup Plus Desktop on 10/18/2012. Have it installed through a Cisco Linksys EA4500 router. I installed the Seagate Dashboard software from the backup Plus drive. Installed fine. Upon running the Dashboard software it states I need to connect a Dashboard recognized drive. I uninstalled the software, connected the Backup Plus drive directly to the computer and reinstalled the Dashboard from the backup Plus drive. Installed fine, ran program, still same thing, it does not or did not recognize the drive. Any suggestions?
Also is it possible to use this drive setup through my router and access it from the Internet? I would like my daughter , who is at college, to be able to upload and download files to it.

I took care of the problem. I took it back and got my money back. Went out and purchased a Western Digital MyBook Live. Set it up in notime and it is working fine.
Had problems with Seagate before but thiught I'd give them a chance. Bought the WD My Book Live 2TB for $159.00

You're lucky you got your money back so easily. Wish I could. More problems today.
And still no help forthcoming.
Why did I buy it???????????????????

Hello AlanM,
Sorry to say that the Seagte just didn't meet my demands and I also heard the same that the GoFlex was not a good answer either. So far things are working as i would like them to.

tdunbar,
I am unsure what you mean. You seem to be unhappy with Seagate, but your registered email address shows no contacts to Seagate Support as of this moment.
What is the nature of the problem? Is your place of purchase being uncooperative?

Well AlanM. I have posted problems on the forum expecting some sort of response and help. Is that not how it is done?
How do I use your support service?
I am in Northern Ireland UK and bought this at a major computer retailer. Are you saying that if I took it back they would refund?
Thanks

Not sure which is worse with support for this problem. I had my Seagate working for about 8 hours with my EA4500. Then it stopped powered down. I powered it back up, but since then no connection to router. It always connects to my usb 2 or 3 ports on my computer.... leading one to believe....Linksys is at fault.

Please remember that this is an online community where many of the responses come from other users, such as yourself. The forum is not a replacement for Customer Service. Seagate representative do from time to time come to lend a hand answering posts but not necessarily on a continual or frequent basis. If you have immediate needs, your best bet is to contact Customer Service directly.
Thanks.

That is up to them, but I would recommend you ask them, at least.
If they won't, Seagate Support will help.
