I haven't seen any new updates for a long time. Was just wondering if there will be any further updates to the firmware. I have issues playing some AVI's and was hoping this would be fixed.

I hope Seagate does something about it. The player has very good hardware and is presently limited due to the poor firmwares they release.
Have a look at this list:

I could not agree more. The FAT+ is a great little box. If only Seagate let users improve the FW, there is no reason we have to look anywhere else. But unfortunately, I don't think we will see another FW release for this.

I agree, when you see Newegg dumping them for 40-50 bucks it's a pretty good sign it's seen it's better days. Just wish Seagate would unlock the firmware and let guys like Playdude make it what it should be. Too, too bad it has to die a slow death next at Overstock.com!

Yeah,Seagate is very "methodical" about their firmware updates. I see the same complaints with the WD device.
2.20 isn't all that old relative to the frequency of firmware updates. Since the GoFlexTV is still in production, don't they generally use the same firmware? For that reason alone I think we will see more updates on the FAT+.
I wondered too with those sales if they were dumping inventory. If it were discontinued it wouldn't still be available on the Seagate site.
I seriously doubt the firmware will be opened up as it was before - the inclusion of Netflix, I am sure, has to do with that. HOWEVER, it seems like if we had more people working on a current mod it could be done (can't it?). The efforts for this require some pretty detailed knowledge, so that knocks me out. :-) So, can someone with mod knowledge let us know if it is possible, in general?

I do hope your guess is rightBut the orignal FAT was also available long after it was discontinued (silently by Seagate). In fact, there was another FW update for that, but never posted by Seagate. One of the users submit a bug report and got the FW through the email. Again, I do hope we'll see at least another FW update, since there are still bugs in this version. If the new users make enough noise, perhaps Seagate will relent and keep the GO Flex TV and the FAT+ FWs in sync. I'd suggest that whoever cares about the Slideshow freezing bug would file a bug report formally, that's the only way to make Seagate feel the increase cost of customer support and release new FW to the general public (to save money).
