Hi,
I bought my Goflex tv media player recently in order to view movies recorded on to a portable hard drive from a satellite receiver, which is no longer working. The files are are .trp and also .ifo. when trying to replay them thru the Goflex I get a bit rate error message. Some of the films playback ( SD films) on a new satellite receiver of a different manufacturer, but not the Hd films. and films from the new receiver don't playback either on the Goflex.
The purpose in buying this player was to play back on either machine without hassle with convertors, but this does not seem to be the case. .trp files are stated as being compatible so what's going on?
The player works fine in all respects, shows photos, plays music, just doesn't do what it's advertised to do.
Thanks in advance for any replies

Hi
I have similar problems with FreeAgent Theatre+. The files are from Strong 4910 SAT box. it plays filne on PC using GOM player and also plays on Western Digital media player. Please submit your files for checking by Seagate. You may have to zip the files as they were having problems getting the TRP files through. I have not had a resolution yet.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, this is the same here , the files play on a gom player on a pc, but I chose to buy a Seagate over Western Digital and that seems to be my mistake. Where did you find the info about submitting files to Seagate? This box is a turkey until this is resolved.

Try the seagate help/support links.
This is the useless support I got from Seagate.
Thank you for contacting Seagate technical Support, i have test the files that you have provided and tried different players but was not able to play the file. file you have provided save by your webtv requires special codecs. thereby cannot be played thru our player. please test teh theatre with a standard video file format not comming from your 3rd party recorder device.

Doesn't seem to be much point in contacting Seagate then, This guy cant even put a sentence together.
Anyone want to buy a Seagate Free Agent Web Tv Photo viewer then?

That's what you get for outsourcing to India. lousy service, lousy product development and support.
Overall very happy with the device, but the WD device seems to be better overall.
