Hi All,
I bought this player 2 years ago, I last used it 3 weeks back and it was working fine. During that time, I connected a new WIFI adapter to the player and streamed videos stored in my PC.
When I started up my player today, it booted up fine with the seagate logo visible. But then the TV went blank with a message saying there's no HDMI.
On connecting the player to the tv though composite video I am seeing the home screen flashing on TV every 2-3 seconds.
It seems that the player is stuck in an endless restart loop internally. The seagate LED being white all the time.
I am currently on the mod 2.23 firmware. I tried to reflash the firmware using coldboot method but the player gets stuck on the bootup mode with yellow LED flashing and seagate logo visible on the screen.
Any ideas what's wrong with my player? Would really appreciate any help in getting it working again.
Thanks,
SC

When you did the cold method reinstall, did you disconnect all usb devices, such as wifi card and any drives? Its best if you only have your usb memory stick installed and it's in the rear port. Then, get the wifi dongle working afterward.
I also recommend setting up a static IP address on both your FAT+ and your PC. DHCP can cause issues (not this one but others). Let us know any other details.

thanks for your reply.
Yes, I had disconnected all USB devices except memory stick before trying the cold boot reinstall. The reinstall never succeeds, the player is stuck with seagate logo on TV and blinking yellow LED. Update screen never shows up.
I tried to flash 2.23 mod firmware and 2.20 NA original firmware.
Also I cannot set an static ip address on FAT+ as after booting up the screen goes blank every 2seconds. Meanwhile the LED is white. The router also doesn't show an allocated ip address for the FAT on the LAN, so I guess it gets screwed up before completely booting up.
The player is completely unusable at this time.
Let me know if you would like me to try anything else.
Thanks,
SC

If you're on Mod 2.23 FW, can you try to telnet into the FAT+? if you can connect with telnet, type "reboot" at the commandline and hit return. See if it behaves differently.

Hi Bodhi, The player is not getting an ip address when connected to the router, thus I am unable to telnet. It just shows the home screen in TV which flickers on and off every 1-2 seconds. I have tried installing 2.20 orig and 2.23 mod firmware through coldboot but wasn't able to succeed. I haven't tried installing the original 2.23 firmware. Thanks, Sumit
You've probably been trying a lot of different things, but I'm sure you can't cold flash 2.23 mod firmware :-) (have to telnet in to do it).
I'm not sure what you can do other than trying various FW versions in this order: 2.23, 2.20, 1.55, rescue 1.55. And also try all 3 USB ports, especially the top port (could be your front and back USB ports are having problem like other users who posted recently).
See prairiedog sticky thread FW 101 for where to get various FW images.

Yes. You can downgrade from 2.23 to 2.20 using the USB Method. I should have added that specifically to the sticky thread, I will get on that.

Awesome, I am really happy this worked out for you! It's always nice when things can be solved (which isn't always).
