Doing two separate backups on two external drives

Hello

I recently purchased a  FreeAgent Desk ext drive and a Expansion Portable Drive. I also installed the Seagate manager software.

No issues doing a backup with the Free Agent Desk external drive. The Manager showed drive H: and backup was successful.

However, when I connect the Portable Drive - the manager shows drive I: but -

1. If I select the portable and do back-up. It immediately says "Back-up successful" without performing an actual back-up.

2. If I tried doing a Sync - but since my data is across multiple internal drives - it does not sync up all the internal drives (in fact wipes it out if it was done previously).

All I am trying to do is to have two separate back-up copies on two drives using the same Seagate Manager software.

Ideally I would like to do Back-up (#1), but if this is something the software does not allow - then why does Sync work across multiple internal drives?

Thanks

Re: Doing two separate backups on two external drives

Quick answer: seagate manager is limited. I recommend you try syncback. You will need to create a separate backup for the second drive. Seagate manager will often say backup completed when no drive is present. I avoid using the sync function because i don't want my files deleted by mistake. Syncback lets you specify how and what to backup or sync, just read the prompts.
