I just bought this my GoFlex Satellite to use with my laptop and iPad. Before I return this, can someone help me please.
I need to know if there is a desktop adapter/stand I can use that would also power up so I don't have to keep charging?
I also need help copying my DVD movies to the drive. When I drag and drop (like customer service suggested), I get an error message. What do I need to do to copy my movies. This is the whole reason I bought this thing.

If ALL of us who are having trouble with this device return all of them, Seagate will be forced to pay a big charge back to all the vendors who gets a return.
MAYBE THIS WAY SOMEONE WILL PAY ATTENTION AND DECIDE TO HELP US.

tracenoone, are you trying to use the drive with a mac? if so you need to install the driver located in the root directory of the goflex or you won't be able to copy files over.

you wont be able to directly drag and drop a movie straight from the dvd disc as dvds have copy protection which will stop you from doing that.
you will first have to rip the movie from the dvd before you can transfer it to the goflex.
dont expect to get any help with that here because of the obvious legal implications.

I am using it on a PC with Windows XP Pro operating system. I was told by technical support that I can drag and drop files in Windows Explorer from the DVD movies. Make a folder in GoFlex of the movie, drag and drop both AS and VS folder from the DVD to the new folder in GoFlex.
When I do this, I get an error message.
We don't have a stand available for the GoFlex Satellite drive.
In regards to your other question, what's the exact wording of the error message you get when you try moving the files to the drive? And have you tried copying them when the device is hardwired?
