I just installed the Maxtor Central Axis network storage server, and I cannot get it past certain pages in the user guide.
Here are my problems so far:
1. On the "My Drives"screen, it shows the drive, but in the user guide, it shows something under the mounted share and the drive. Mine is empty, so I am not sure if that is part of the problem or not.
2. I created an account with my name as the name of the drive (It was pre-filled). When I try to access it, it keeps telling me access is denied. It does not show up when I try to delete the drives either.
3. My biggest issue: When I click on Backup in the Maxtor software, I get a warning message "error you need a user account to back up or restore files using the central axis". I then click on "click here to connectto a user account, click to one of the accounts set up (I have about 4), it connects, then nothing happens. I can choose open or done.
I am trying to backup three computers on this hard drive, and am having no luck.
I can submit screen shots if that would help.
After reading the box, it sounded like I could have this done and up and running within minutes. It has now been a couple of hours, and I do not think I am even close to being done.

Check the trouble shooting guide. It sound like you need to create a user account Click on the middle icon with the +on the file to create a user acccount. You can also go into Settings then "Maxtor Central Axis Admin Web Page" and set up a user account.
If you click on the right file folder with the arrow you can create a mapped drive to a shared directory.
