Shared storage II (1 TB) does not boot...

Hi.
 
I have a new Shared Storage II. Yesterday I installed and configured the unit without any problem, after that I moved a lot of files from an old external Hard Disk and turned off all the equipment (Laptop, Shared Storage and external Hard Disk).
 
Today the Shared Storage did not boot up. Turns on, can hear the drive spinning round, all that happens is the rear power button LED is constantly green light and the front power LED is blinking and the network LED is also blinking normally, like it’s booting up, except it goes on and on and on……

Can you help me?

I have the same problem. But after 20seconds booting, the device is shutting down. I've already wrote an email to maxtor support, but no answer :smileysad:
 
What can I do? This is already my second device with this problem :smileysad:

I also have the same problem, my drive worked for 3 days but after a shutdown when power was re applied the front power light started flashing without me pressing the rear switch, and does nothing else, reset will not cause a reboot, my router reports no connection to the MSS11, so I can do nothing with it, Tech Support says return it.
 
My first MSS11 lasted only 7 days, and then after a self test reported the drive needed replacement with error message AEA9DD68 but appeared to work correctly and said the disks wre healthy. Tech Support gave no advice and recomended it was returned.  On the first one I was able to remove my data befor returning the drive, but this drive will not even let me do that which is serious, as I have sensitive business information on the drive.
 
I have a suspician that the problem is in its preboot test, and may be connected to the media server because I started that the day before it crashed, I have a large number of .jpg photos stored on it in a directory outside My Photos, which according to the forums is where I should have put the photos.
 
What does Media Server do anyway, as I can see the photos over the network with out starting Media Server.

I'm having the same prob, the rear power led is solid green, front one is blinking green...
I can't afford to return it, I have so many files(very personal stuff) and I dont have any other back up!:smileymad:

We had a problem with the power supplies (so we were told).  I purchased two of these for a client when they first came out at $700/each.  Both of them stopped booting within three months.  It does no good to have the data mirrored when you can't retrieve the data without voiding the warranty.  Instead you have to pay Seagate $$$ to get it off for you and wait....

Luckily we backup to tape from the main office nightly so only a few hours worth of work was lost each time.

We sent the units back for repair and replaced them with MS Storage 2003 Servers from Dell.

Set these units as a backup to the Dell and had hourly backup from the Dell copying to the Maxtor.  Within a month both Maxtors are dead again.

Needless to say, I had egg on my face for specing out such a worthless POS.  I'm lucky I didn't lose the client.  If I hadn't been backing up to tape they would have lost $10-15K worth of invoices.

Don't trust these units at all.

I too am having this problem....i bought this unit because it was getting no bad reviews....wish i had known about this....any help would be most appreciated.....

What happened? I sent my Shared Storage to the factory (RMA), they checked it and sent it back to me.

 

Then, the same history again (the %$/&/%$# Storaged worked 1 day only)!!! After that I sent the Maxtor storage to the trash, (it buyed a Linksys NAS and write 500 times in my log: "Never again buy a Maxtor produt!"
