Mirra revisited

Mirra is a great product. Is Seagate really going to discontinue it?

Re: Mirra revisited

Yes, I am sorry to say that it has been discontinued.

Can you suggest a comparable Seagate or Maxxtor product that has an online component to it?

Re: Mirra revisited

Absolutely.  The Maxtor Central Axis server.

Re: Mirra revisited

Did this just come out? Is this really the next generation Mirra or is it an entirely new product? Does it have the same kind of kludgy client app that Mirra has? There isn't too much info right there...

Thanks!

Re: Mirra revisited

It is fairly new, and as I understand it, it is a totally different software and user-facing interface.

Re: Mirra revisited

One has to wonder at the logic of spending money to buy a product line then killing it off knowing a lot of people are using them.

It assures me, however, that I would not trust a backup product from Seagate in the future knowing they might kill that off leaving me stranded with a product and no support.

Re: Mirra revisited

I personally like the Mirra and it works fine. But since Seagate killed it off it seems they are not interested in offering this type of product.  If they did I would not buy it because they might kill off that as well leaving me with two useless pieces of technology.

They already proved they are not interested in such a backup solution, leaving us with no upgrades or support.

Re: Mirra revisited

How much of a trade in will they give me for my Mirra?
