Greetings

I have files on my Maxtor NAS that I cannot delete. The device says "Access denied". I was able to delete other files in the same folder. I suspect it has something to do with the read-only flag being set when the files were copied to the NAS. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

There seem to be a number of variations to the cannot-delete-file problems!

I’ve a 1TB Shared Storage II, but I got the same problem. In addition I cannot copy (some) large files from Shared Storage II.

I’ve tried to use unlocker, but it doesn’t help.

Can anybody help?

I have the same issue with a maxtor shared storage II 500GB. It does not apply to all files or directories. some can be easaly chaged and remove others not, dow to the individual file level.

The web link to Microsoft does not help, because the Maxtor has a Linux as OS and the file system access rights are oranized differently on Linux than on Windows. We need a NAS expert here. I am sure it can be fixed if you connect the HD to a computer with Linux OS on.

I had the same problem and fixed it by deleting all the user accounts on my MSSII except  the admin one. After doing this all the files were freed up for deletion. i did not even have to reboot it.

I still belive that the drive should have a format option though
