I have recently installed a Central Axis 1TB NAS device on my local network. I'm connected via a D-Link GigE router and I'm able to see folders that were created on the Axis from PCs on my network. However, when I try and open folders from Global Access I get a message that states
There is either a poor Internet connection or your
Maxtor Central Axis is turned off. Attempting to
view backed up folders might fail.
Even though I get this message it does show all folders that were created on the Central Axis.If I click on one of these folders to "open" the folder I get a message
Connecting. Please wait...
Either there is a network problem or the
Maxtor Central Axis web access to this folder
is turned off.
Attempting a connection for one minute anyway...
This goes on forever and never stops.
Any ideas?

I am now getting this same symptom. I previously was able to access my upgraded drive from web but now only get the poor network and endless try symptoms you mention.
I tried setting up a new Global Access account and it still does the same thing.
I suspect problems on Seagate's side with servers and the long holiday weekend.. 'Cause this did work just fine. I'm thinking you just hit it at the wrong time. Hoping Monday makes it better...

Well it indeed started working for me on Monday am. And someone I shared a directory with could get in. And it's still working today (Tues 4pm).
So it was an anomaly for me that seems resolved. As for the other person who states it works once after reset, I suggest you get with support as that sounds odd and not right.
Cheers!

Anybody has nay clue to fix this issue??

I startted this thread and found that the issue was resolved on its own after a few days. I had thought there was one of two problems. Either it takes a couple of days for the web server to go through all of its registration for a new user or the web server occasionally goes partially wacko. Since these symptoms are also happening to existing users then I would say it is the latter- their server is just not working properly right now. Go on to some other work and check it again in a day or two.
Not very encouraging that your data will be there when you need it in the future, is it?

I talked with their support team and they wanted me to power cycle the server but still having the same issues. Reset the server, lost some of my data. Support team acknowledge that they have issues with their server and wanted me to contact them after a week.
I found the issues with temperature of server and the sleep mode. I think sleep mode [power management] is also not functioning properly. I haven't got time to connect printer yet. Is it functioning or not ? Seagate has to do something [firmware or something else] about these issues to sale their products in this competitive market. If you find some solutions to this problems, please post it. Thanks & appreciated.

Ive had my Maxtor 320 NAS shared drive for a while now and only just came across these updates for the Axis software. I did the upgrade last night and have been having the same access issues/messages so far as you guys. Im hoping that this will remedy itself but I'll keep checking the posts!!

Hi
OK. The Central Axis software and firmware (3.5.74) is finaly updated!
But: same issue as described. Unable to download files using the Seagate Global Acces: [since about a week]
"An error occured. The Seagate Global Access could not complete your last request.Click other tabs or Back in your browser to continue." !using internet the last week
And still the "sleeping-mode" issue is not yet solved.
Please Seagate, my disk is useless without the internet connection.
What is wrong on your server?
I think it is not the disk this time. Software or/and firmware ? - I think not this time, for this connection error?
Who knows, what wil be a solution for the connection error in reasonable time?
[Leaving Seagate, and go to another Company - Network Disk?]
Still waiting a short time for consistent solution? We see..
UPDATE [ 18-12-2008 ]
I think the server problem is solved. Suddenly, all does work again! OK. I'll stay supporting Seagate.
How long will it last, I hope for long time! Because I use my disk frequently over the internet.
Still I do not know what is better in the new firmware 3.57.4 ?
Anyone knows ?
Greetings,
from the Netherlands
