so my usb port on my hard drive broke off the mother board. now i was told that i can rewire the usb plug directly into the back of the harddrive itself. there are four prongs on the back of the driver and there are four wires on the usb cord. now i was hoping someone would know which order these wires match up with the prongs. yes i know this is half assing it. and well i know it is not a good idea. but i am in afganistan and well chances of getting a new mother board in the next three months out here is very unlikely. and i have also been told that i could slide the hard drive right into a laptop as well, but i have a notebook. so if anyone can help, or maybe lead me in the right direction that would be awesome. thanks

If you can supply a drive model # it will help. Other info on USB pinout I don't think hardwiring it directly to the drive is possible, but you may be able to connect the USB wires to the Motherboard. If the drive is a standard SATA it can be placed in a desktop. SATA wiki.
