I bought the Desk model and though it would back up my whole system. Am I correct that I should have bought the "Replica" and paid $100 more for software to do the job? Is the software the price difference? I should have known that $79 was too little to get what I wanted.
The Replica will backup you complete computer. If I knew the reason or purpose for your complete backup I might have a diffrent answer. You can keep you current Desk model and purchase Acronis and still save money.
I looked at the Black Armor Backup by Acronis - best I can tell it would cost me another $99. Looks like 3 versions available but no directions which one would fit the DESK Seagate model. I like the other guy's advice with the word "FREE" - I will go to that site also. thanks.
Disk Wizzard looks like a great bit of software to mirror a drive. It does however look like it has no SYNC capabilities. One must back up the whole drive each time. Am I right on that? that leads me to the conclusion that 2 external drives are best - one for the Sync features where, music, document and picture backup are the main goal - and one for a mirror backup that would help with a full disk crash.
