Me too! Thanks caliguy! Every time I've reinstalled XP I've had the same issue. I have a One Touch II and a III. The 1394 driver on the CD was the answer. The One Touch III CD had a newer version of the same driver (1.1.0.2 verses 1.1.0.1).

Hi Caliguy, thanks a lot It worked like a charm for my computer running XP SP3. Sad people don't realize one has to check carefully the information before speaking. Backup software needs drivers, and they're included in its distrbution for convenience Seagate Chat is not even operational...

I had a similar problem in XP after a reinstall. Solution for me was to insert the OneTouch III Installation disk at the prompt. XP installed the driver. Am assuming issue is resolved. Would not have known which 1394 device was the problem if not for this thread. Thanks for the post. Hope everyone else found a solution as well. I too take issue with the Melonade post. The issue results from the OneTouch hardware regardless of whether its a Microsoft or a Maxtor/Seagate concern. Message Edited by joc on 08-18-2009 10:46 AM

*** OPEN the zip file and look for the drivers/1394 folder *** Extract the 1394 folder. *** when prompted by found new hardware - have it search that folder for drivers and VOILA!!
I've taken the honors, of repacking just that 1394 folder and hosting it on the net. Though I would prefer if people mirror it on driver sites or something. Or Seagate could just put that driver folder zipped on their webspace somewhere. :-) Your welcome everyone. Download Link: 1394.zip The zip file is 33.9KB and decompressed it's 56KB. In case you think it's malware I ran it through VirusTotal for your peace of mind. Sure easier then 160 megabytes of data. =)
