Backup Plus for Mac: The installation failed

Hello, I just received the Backup Plus for Mac. I get this message:

The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

I am trying to contact Seagate support but hard to find the path there. Trying here first.

Re: Backup Plus for Mac: The installation failed

Update. Just got off the phone with Seagate Support. I was told not even to use the Seagate Dashboard - drag it to the trash. Instead open Time Machine on my Mac and just manually connect it to the Seagate drive. Works now but scratching my head about WHY Seagate even bothered with advertising these features on Amazon.com:

Save Your Social Life

The Backup Plus for Mac desktop drive includes the Seagate Dashboard. This premium software makes it simple to share or save files associated with online social networks including Flickr, Facebook and YouTube. Automatically download copies of your photos, movies and more from social networking sites to your drive. Share files by simply clicking on your social icons within the Seagate Dashboard. Easily share multiple files with your social networks at the same time.

I was told by support that this feature is "a promotion good for 30 days." What?

Re: Backup Plus for Mac: The installation failed

My review of this drive on Amazon.com. I gave it 3 stars for the false advertising of the alleged "Seagate Dashboard."

Does work well with Time Machine, though. My advice for Seagate: don't advertise addional features/functionality you cannot deliver.

Re: Backup Plus for Mac: The installation failed

OK, figured this out on my own. I tried the install again (glutton for punishment). After once again getting the error message ("The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."), I looked in my Applications folder. I saw that the Seagate Dashboard was indeed there -- and it works. No restart of your Mac needed (despite being prompted during installation that a restart is required).
