Backup plus no more found after an OS upgrading

Hi! I've been using my Backup Plus (1 TB) with a laptot whose operating system is Ubuntu. Yesterday I upgraded the OS (leaving the BP connected to the laptop), and now it works no more, even if connected to a Windows 7 pc. Moreover, when I connect the device to a pc, it makes a strange noise and after a while the LED starts blinking. Do I have any hope to save my data - and my device?

Thank you

Re: Backup plus no more found after an OS upgrading

It is definitely recommended that you DISconnect any external storage device when doing something like upgrading or installing or reinstalling your OS. Sorry.  :-(

Re: Backup plus no more found after an OS upgrading

I'm experiencing the same situation after having to do a hard power-down.

I have gone through the Troubleshooter linked above, but the PC doesn't see the HD at all so none of the steps there help. I have also tried connecting to a different computer, but the HD acts the same (nothing for a while and then blinking light).

Was there any solution found? Is there another way to access the drive?

Thank.

Re: Backup plus no more found after an OS upgrading

I am sorry; at this point your best option is to talk to a data recovery company.
Seagate Services is one option.
