Backup Plus and Seagate Slim

I am trying to find out how the Seagate Dashboard backup software delas with the deleted files during subsequent backups. In other words, if I delete one of the files which was previously backed up from my PC from my PC, will that file be automatically deleted from my Seagate Backup Plus portable disk?

I want to backup some of my files on my PC  (archive them) and delete them permenantly from my PC. If I do a backup, before I delete them, will these files still remain on Seagate portable during future backups? I want to be able to restore them at a future date, if I need to.

I know I can put them on a CD and keep them but, I am trying to minimize number and the types of media my files are on. Furthermore, I can encrypt my Seagate portable (I bought an encryption program) but I cannot do the same for CDs.

Any suggestions?

I tested your question with my backup set.  I deleted 3 files that were originally created in Feb of last year.  But first I confirmed that they were on my backup device.  They were and they still are.  Hourly backups have taken place since I deleted the files early this morning.  Obliviously they do not show up under the latest backup set but when I go back in time they are on the earlier backup sets.

Now what I don't know is whether or not Seagate's software does any routine maintenance looking for and deleting deleted files.  Since it is a free backup program I suspect it doesn't do any more than what you see but I'd always wonder.  The instructions don't tell you what happens to your files and backup sets when your source device becomes full.  I've used other backup software that I paid for and it tracked and marked files that were deleted but it did not delete them without my permission.

I haven't been trained in detail on how the backup program works but I can tell you with 95% certainty that it doesn't delete files from your backup destination drive (ie, the Backup Plus drive).
