Major Overheating Issue in the Backup Plus line as well

[ Edited ]

I previously mentioned that the GoFlex Desk had major issues with overheating where I found it reaching 69 degrees Celsius in this post:

http://forums.seagate.com/t5/GoFlex-GoFlex-Desk-GoFlex-Pro/Seagate-GoFlex-Desk-Has-a-Major-Flaw-Over...

Hoping that Seagate had resolved this issue, I tested a new 3TB Backup Plus today and after a 4.5 hour backup, this drive also reached and maintained a temperature of 69 degrees Celsius (156 degrees Fahrenheit). The utility I ran to get the internal temperature also listed critical failures due to the temperature. Keep in mind, this drive is only rated for a maximum operating temperature of 60 degrees Celsisus with a maxmium meaning that it's definately not ideal and anything over it will likely cause damage.

I hope Seagate recognizes that there is a major design flaw here which needs to be addressed.
