Playing media on backup plus through bluray player

All of my external drives are all seagates.  All of them will also play mp3 and video files when connected to my samsung bluray player via usb.  Just bought a 3T backup plus desktop drive, transfered all of my mp3s and movies over to that, hooked it up to the bluray player, it recognizes the drive but when I click on videos or music it says it doesnt have any music or video files on the drive.  I reconnected it to my laptop and it shows all of the mp3s and video files are on it.  Did they change something with this line that will cause this not to work with external players?

Re: Playing media on backup plus through bluray player

There are problems with 3TB drives due to 4k sectors.

Even windows can have trouble with them so other devices like TV's and media players are likely to have problems. I don't know of a fix (I'm not even going to pretend to understand the problem, just that there is one) but here are a couple of links that might help;
