Hello!
I'm new to the backup stuff and went to Best Buy tonight. They have Seagate Backup Plus and Backup Plus for Mac. My question is, which one should I get? ![]()
Backup Plus for Mac has 1TB, 2.0 USB, Mac ready, and Time Machine compatible. While the Backup Plus is 1TB, 3.0 USB, Mac, (not Mac ready) and doesn't say anything about Time machine.
Could someone, please help me out? Best Buy was not helpful at all! ![]()
Thank you!

Neil - Which hard drive did you purchase?

Hi:
Same as yours. It can back up Windows and the Mac. I have no experience with this drive. But I wonder why you need to use the Dashboard which takes a minute or two to load.
I went into My Computer and found the F: drive, which is the external drive. I went into windows, found the back-up program and backed up everything I could into the F drive. I am treating the external drive like a zip stick.
I also backed up everything into my Norton 360 and downloaded that onto the harddrive. I do not know what is correct or incorrect to do.
I have to say this again: I am experimenting.

If you use primarily a Mac, I'd recommend you go ahead and just get the Backup Plus for Mac.
If you sort of switch between them, it doesn't really matter.
If you use primarily a PC, I'd recommend the Backup Plus.
Also, it matters which interface cable module is included with the drive that you're thinking about getting. For example, I don't remember which is which, but if, say, the B+ for Mac box includes, say, a FireWire 800 cable and a USB cable module, I'd go for that one if it doesn't cost too much more.
