Should you keep a external hard drive plugged in all the time? Will it always spin and run? ie Seagate backup plus

You can keep it plugged in all the time, yes; it will spin down and sleep after a period of inactivity. but I would recommend, if you are not going to use it for a while, like more than a day, go ahead and safely remove it and shut it down if you have opportunity.

I always leave mine on and plugged in and have never had any issues.
