I have the 3 TB Backup Plus that works with Mac and Windows.   I could not get it to install on my iMac.  Received some sort of install error.  So I wanted to try and have it work just on Mac and it reformatted my drive to work only on Mac.  Then it installed fine.  However, I want to be able to use it on my PC too in case I want to swap data back and forth.  How do I get back to factory settings so that I can have it work on both iMac and PCs?

 

Also if i setup Backup Plsu to work on Mac and Windows will my time machine still work on my iMac for my internal drive?  Will it just not work on the Seagate Backup Plus drive?

1) Backup your data onto the Mac, especially the macinstall.dmg file.
2) Take the drive to a PC. Use Disk Management to repartition it. Make one NTFS partition.
3) Take it to the Mac. Install the macinstall.dmg driver and then hopefully it will become Mac+PC.

 

And yes about Time Machine - it won't work on the Backup Plus drive but everywhere else it should remain unaffected.
