After going through multiple Seagate drives - in particular 1.5 TB drives . . . the multiple warranty replacements, and then the warranty replacements go bad . . . I have finally decided to throw away all of my Seagate drives and just take the loss.
I use 4 1.5 TB drives in my system - and this has been a nightmare.
No more 5-hopur long "Chkdsk /r" marathons . . . no more "Freezer" tricks . . . no more going to the "Is your drive under Warranty Tool" . . . no more of the never-ending BAD sectors and corrupted MBRs ! ! !
I'm done - and have paid the money for 4 of the "other" 1.5 drives (I won't state the company because I do not want my Post deleted - but think of fish eggs that have turned Black).
As it is I have lost huge amounts of important data and money due to failed Seagate Barracud's. I cannot take it anymore and I am done with the never-ending warranty replacements where I pay the shipping - after just losing critical data.
Maybe I am unlucky - maybe your drives are fine - but this is what has happened to me, over and over again.

Hi well they have now dropped the warranty to 1 year on Barracuda drives. I wont be buying any drive that has a 1 year warranty. I think that a company that has no faith in there drives offers 1 year warranty. I can see this is going to hurt seagate for example here the best shop is canada computers for parts. They had about even pages of seagate and the other guys drives for sale. If you look now 2 pages of seagate and 6 pages of the other guys drives. So with a 1 year warranty they expect the drive to have problems in 1.5 years or sooner.

@lifeson99
I completely agree with you, I had so many troubles with Seagate HDs for which I am now completely fed up. And I really don't know how many days I had to spend to diagnose their disks.
I bought a 2TB Barracuda Green 5900 disk, after only 5.4 days of functioning it miserably failed, I asked for a new replacement but... nothing!! I am sure I will get another refurbished disk maybe with many hours of functioning already.
Unfortunately there are not so many competitors.... but will follow your example!! Thank you for reporting.

You should always have two copies of anything important guy's, that is the way to minimise the pain.
However, I feel your pain, but check it's not just OEM that is 1 year and also the other guy's drive also fail, but they don't appear to be built like a drive was from 2002 anymore.
