Hello,
I recently purchased a new pc (new everything) and finished building it today. Everything worked well until I went to install windows. It said I only had 4GB of space left on my brand new Seagate Barracuda 500GB ST3500413AS. I went to bios and it read it as 4GB aswell. Tried different SATA cables, ports, PSU cables and unbuilt and rebuilt the pc many times. The installation instructions on Seagates website didnt say I had to do any tinkering in BIOS. This is my first from scratch pc build and my only experience trying to fix them was with my old piece of junk. Is my HDD faulty or is there something i'm missing?
Thanks

I am having the same issue, but mine actually worked for a little while. I installed Windows 7 but came home to the blue screen of death today. I hooked it up to another computer and it's reading it as ST_M13FQ and that it only has 3.6gb. Weired. It appears that others who have had this issue with other models were issued firmware updates for their HDD's, but there doesn't seem to be one available for this model. I submitted a support email. I'll post back here if I get a response.
