Good luck mate. According to Seagate support "they dont keep copies of the firmware"!!!

I'd be happy with new firmware so that I don't need to have to get my data recovered. If another of my drives die, or Seagate continue to refuse to address these problems, I'm never going to buy another one of their products, not in my personal or professional life.

Thanks for the update.
Does that mean we each have to e-mail support for the firmware files? Is this the same support department who have been systematically ignoring us for so long? I don't hold out much hope for a quick reply from them if so.
Wouldn't it be easier to have an ftp server with the relevant files on?
Also, as this seems to be admission that Seagate are at fault for this will they make arrangements to pay for the data recovery I have already had completed?

That is all I know at this time.
I'm not in the know, please understand. I am just the messenger. My advice is to stay tuned...

I would expect Seagate, and any other storage device vendor to stick to what is outlined in their warranties. Data backup is always the responsibility of the user. If Seagate were to does any more for its customers I would be very impressed and it would be gesture that would not go unnoticed. But Seagate, as with much of the world are in uncertain financial times so I can form my own opinion on what I expect Seagate to do about people's already bricked drives.

Jim,
You have to realize that the "goodwill gesture" you (and others want) Seagate to perform would not be possible in the real world. Data backup and recovery has ALWAYS been the responsibility of the end user (as well is stated in the EULA).
Backing up your important data isn't hard or expensive.
If you can afford to buy a new hard drive, then you can afford to get some other external storage medium to back up your own data.

The irony of all this is, as a loyal Seagate customer for years, I just bought a WD drive to backup my ST3640323AS. It will be some time before I purchase another Seagate.
