Hi,

Where is the firmware for those with CC1F and lower ?

I know Seagate says those with CC or LC firmwares aren't affected, but there are reports here relating CC1F problems.

Hi,

I have a ST3320613AS drive wich has some problems. I have already spoken to a support representative and he told me to update the firmware ASAP it becomes available. Today the firmware was released and i tries it but the firmware is not designed for this drive. It's only for partnumbers ending with -300 and -336. However i have p/n -301. I don't know what to do now. The drive is working in a RAID0 configuration and somehow the drive disappears (and Windows crashes afterwards). I need to do a powercycle before the drive becomes availlable again. The drive has firmware SD22 and the problem only occurs when using the drive in RAID. Drive works flawlessly when used as a native SATA drive.

Any advice about what to do next?

Thank you :smileyhappy:

Thanks for the heads up Alan, much appreciated!

Please would it be possible to advise users on the firmware versions in the KB article as well? Same as 'hansolo89', my drive SD35, here are the details:
  • Model: ST31000333AS, Serial: 5TE0EAWM, Firmware: SD35

Could you or anybody else from Seagate advise if we should proceed with flashing the firmware or not? The reason why I'm asking is because I did not find anyone reporting a problem with these drives and SD35.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice!

Am I the only one who still sees it as In Validation? I don't see a download link anywhere on that page...???

So, if I have CC1H and CC1J 1.5TB drives, they shouldn't all of a sudden die?

I have two drives, model ST31000333AS with firmware SD15 on them.

I am about to try this.

I had great luck with the firmware for model ST31000340AS as I had one of that type.  Hopefully this goes as smoothly.

I have one of the  ST31000333ASin a RAID 1 NAS enclosure, and another still in a static bag.  I will try the unused one first and see what happens.

If the unused one works and the active one fails, I can always rebuild the arrary.  :smileyhappy:

I will report my findings.

It may be a problem with your browser's cache - if you are using IE or Firefox, reload the page with CTRL+F5 (instead of using a standard refresh). I also read that people were having problems with the KB because of the language - try to set your language to English if you have it set to something else (it can be done at the top of the page, above the right-column area).

Alternatively, try to open the frame with the KB content directly using this link - however, please note that may not work or be up to date for very long.

[ Edited ]

I just flashed two ST31000333AS (P/N 9FZ136-300) with no apparent ill effects. Both were bought mid-December 2008 in the UK, both previously had firmware revision SD15 loaded. Both are now SD1B. As per instructions, I disconnected all drives bar one ST31000333AS drive and the DVD-Rom drive I was booting from. I flashed my least critical disc first, to be on the safe side.

For those wondering if they should flash drives with other SDxx firmware revisions, ____ on ___ reckoned that the fix was in SD1A, so anything newer didn't need updating. Furthermore, SD1A apparently also includes a fix for the stuttering/NCQ/Cache Flush problem that was previously only acknowledged on the 1.5TB models. With that assurance, I've now re-enabled NCQ.
