mikepo,
Well, I have exactly the same pn than you.
The only difference, it can't do it.
I don't get it.
(you pressed a(q) isn't ?)

Using a ST31500341AS - 9JU138-300 - 1.5TB 7200.11 drive. Former firmware was SD18 and I updated to the new firmware. Update worked without a hitch.
I was having problems streaming music/video from the drive and the drive always hanged from just a minute in to maybe lasting 30 minutes before freezing. Now after the update I tried to watch two movies from the drive and they both hanged around the same time. Near 90 minutes give or take.

If I'm following this correctly, I have to get the PN off my drive to tell if this firmware will work for my ST3640323AS. Why then does Seagate not mention this on the page? All it says is if you have that model number the firmware is for you. I used their drive detect program and all it tells me is my Drive name, serial number and firmware but it does not mention PN, either does Seatools.
I am obviously missing something.

That's correct.
I tried to switch with the sata connector and the result is the same... nothing.

@cap_
Correct, I pressed (A) for the ...323AS firmware.
Did you try to press (S) first? does it see the drive and does the model number look ok?

so do it then. I assume you have backups and the old disks if they are not dead if it goes wrong
