Are 630AS's affected by the bricking issue?

[ Edited ]
Hi,

I have a  ST3750630AS hdd with the firmware - SD15.

According to the knowledgebase article it is NOT affected (although the one ending with 330AS is). While browsing around I saw this post - http://forums.seagate.com/stx/board/message?board.id=ata_drives&message.id=5927&query.id=109541#M592... in which the user says that he has the same model drive as mine that has failed!

Now I am wondering if my drive is affected too? To be on the safe side I never shutdown my PC anymore, but it would be great if I could get some clarification on this!

Thanks!

Re: Are 630AS's affected by the bricking issue?

Max,

I have a 2-ST3750630AS drives - One cannot be detected by BIOS.

BTW - My machine is a Dell XPS 630i (3 months old). I was using the PC - shut it down and the next am it was locked up.

Sure seems like my drive is affected even if Seagate says officially it is not.

Have you found any more information ?

Mark.
