Re: *BEWARE* the so called Samsung HD204UI

[ Edited ]

The RedmonBill reviewer @newegg was just 1 particular case, I doubt all the others negative reviewers are all biased towards Seagate. And it's not just Newegg reviews (which is US), I'm from The Netherlands and overhere the reviews on forums (for St2000Dl003) are, lets say modest to negative. It doesn't bring me much confidence to go ahead and still use this particular model (ST2000DL004).

Meanwhile, which is also interesting, Seagate's lips are tight shut.

Hi this is for VeganFanatic I would like to see you back up 3tb on a USB stick LOL ridiculous. I have pc's in businesses that have run for 5 years without one part failing. Your quote is I use lots of them in my shop to in case the my rig dies, it has before many times before. If your pc is dieing all the time you are missing something.

Re: *BEWARE* the so called Samsung HD204UI

actually 3TB USB desktop disks are not expensive and they make for an excellent backup solution

smaller USB portable disks are somewhat smaller due to the smaller form factor

The new ST2000Dl004 has 1 year warranty instead of the original three. Doesn't bring much confidence either.

Re: *BEWARE* the so called Samsung HD204UI

AISI, any opinions about Seagate drives are irrelevant to this discussion. Seagate's HDDs may or may not be the worst products on the planet, but AFAICS, and according to what RedmondBill has observed, the Seagate/Samsung "Barracuda" is just a rebadged Samsung. Therefore any negative review is a reflection on Samsung, not Seagate. That said, judging by the amount of animosity in this thread and others, it is clear that some Seagate marketing droid has made a regrettable decision, to put it mildly.
