Barracuda 3T - Windows XP - Cannot see remaining 1T

[ Edited ]

Hi Folks

I purchased the Barracuda 3T drive yesterday (STBD3000100).  Upon installing the new drive in my Windows XP system (ASUS P5B MB), I do see the initial 746.51GB partition in Windows Disk manager. A "found new disk" wizard window pops up asking if I want to convert the disk to dynamic disk (I said no), but I left the check mark on for initializing the disk - that was a mistake).  Windows disk manager now shows 2T instead of 745.51 G.  The disk is still unformatted.

I installed and ran the Seagate DiscWizard.  I click on the Extend Capacity Manager and there it says that I have already allocated all my disk space.

So I cannot see the remaining 1 Gig.

Is there a way to undo the "initializing" that I did or a way to reset the disk to the original settings.

Thanks

Norm

Re-format it, a quick one will be enough to get rid of the existing partition,

Re: Barracuda 3T - Windows XP - Cannot see remaining 1T

Hi Canbecanit

Still does not work.  Now my XP system just sees the disk as a 2TB disk.  DiscWizard does not see the extended partition.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled DiscWizrd (Latest version).  I've even removed the partition and uninstalled and installed the disk.  Still, Windows sees the disk as a 2T in disk manager (and not as a 746.51 GB).  DiscWizard also sees the disk as a 2T disk and says there are no MBR partition style larger than 2 TB.

Any other suggestion?  The link you provided is no longer valid.  The software for evaluation is no longer available.  Oh well, time to return the disk to Best Buy.  Thanks for the help.
