Barracuda 7200.11 not dectected on motherboard.

I shut down my computer one day to move it to another floor in my house, I did this very properly and didn't hold down the power button or rip the cord out the back and simply hit shutdown, uppon startup after I got it all hooked up, I got an error message saying select proper boot device and reboot, so I went into my bios and set disk drive to boot first, and then checked my sata connections to my motherboard, nothing was detected and now i'm sitting here with no computer because that was my main and only drive. I've tried other cables and connections and I still have this problem, I realise it is a firmware problem but I was wondering if there is anyway to flash it?

Re: Barracuda 7200.11 not dectected on motherboard.

If the drive is not being detected, then you won't be able to update its firmware.

Instead, here are repair procedures for Seagate 7200.11 drives:

Tutorial with photos:

Pinout of Nokia CA-42 cable's Pop-port connector (use pins 6,7,8):

See the following technical bulletin:

Seagate were at one time offering free data recovery services to those customers whose drives were affected by the bug. This may still be the case.
