Barracuda 7200.12

I have tried fitting new hard drive into PC but r I switch on it wont get any further than the start screen  I have tried leaving in the old hard drive and put the new one in as a second drive but PC still wont start anyone got any ideas

Please expand the issue. What do you mean by "not going beyond start screen"? What is your old and new HDD model? I Are both SATA drives?

Asssuming you have put an O/S on it, you probably haven't put the sata driver on it, this will BSOD you if you are in AHCi mode, solution assuming this is the problem is put the bios in IDE mode boot and then hack windows once loaded.

Seems like a different issue of late

 

I have a 7200.12 disk, works perfect when I cloned an operating system onto it

 

My BIOS is set to ACPI and there is no driver outside the standard chipset.

 

 

So check for a BIOS update. Check to be sure cables are snug and not damaged. Check also to be sure you are using suitable cables, as older SATA cables are not able to handle SATA 3 or 6 speeds well.
