Re: Benchmark results 1.5 TB updated firmware

Hi, I'm new here.

just got the 1.5TB drives with Firmware SD17 (P/N: 9JU138-300) but have not try them yet.

I bought it since I thought new firmware (SD1A) should fix the problem but,

after research, some said it downgrade drive's performance and BonySoft said it didn't fix the freeze issue.

Does any one else experience the same things after upgrade firmware to SD1A?

Do all SD17 drives have the freeze issue?

I still have the drives sealed in the package and plan to return them if SD1A firmware still have a problem.

don't want to build NAS with harddrive problem

and later have to wait for seagate to come up with a new firmware to fix it.

Thanks, Ken

Going a week with updated FW (SD1A) there was only one time of freeze issue (on the 3rd day) and drive continued to work well. So I'm not quite sure this won't ever happen again if it did once at least.

Just to make a difference:the old (SD17) firmware caused freeze issues about 3-4 times at day!

Re: Benchmark results 1.5 TB updated firmware

I'm compelled to state the new firmware (SD1A) does not help a lot (for me, at least). Still freezing from time to time, not so often as it was before update but frustrating anyway (in my case that's not just about freezing, windows xp totally hangs forcing to make a hardware reset)

Re: Benchmark results 1.5 TB updated firmware

Hello,
I have opened an issue on Seagate's site for 2 weeks and had no answer yet.
Last week I phoned the European support but somehow I am not confident that I got a final answer.
So here it is:
- I too have 4 X 7200.11 / ST31500341AS 1.5 TB drives running the CC1G firmware
- These drives are installed in a Netgear ReadyNAS PRO Business NAS
- This NAS is connected to a 100MB/s LAN
- The NAS's main objective is to serve high-def videos to an HTPC running Vista 32bit
- The stuttering and freezes I encounter are very typical of what I read on the net about these disks and
the firmware problem
- Seagate's representative told me on the phone that CC1G is the latest firmware available eventhough the articles
I read here and evrywhere else expressly say that newer firmware were available.
Can somebody clarify this firmware thing for me Please?
Thank you

Xtrips,

The email support is not nearly that far behind!  It looks like your email is one of those that was swallowed by one of the defects (that they've been progressively eliminating) in our email support software application.  I am very sorry for the inconvenience.  Could I ask you to resubmit your email?

Re: Benchmark results 1.5 TB updated firmware

Thank you Alan but eventually the guys at AVSforum were quicker to answer and more efficient.
So they helped me get the CC1H firmware which i loaded and the performance jumped up three folds.
I still have a glitches at playing BDs but this migh be my network setup.
Thank you anywat.
