I have two Model: ST31000340AS Firmware: SD15 units  and two Model: ST3500320AS Firmware: SD15 units not affected according to S/N checker.

that updating the SD15 works has been plenty confirmed, including myself on a 500gb

the serial-checker seems a bit weird

That serial checker is just dust in our eyes. They fix  alot of hdd with this firmware maybe and for the rest just let them brick .

Dont forget to type in your serial number in caps. It will say that it is not affected otherwise. If it still says it's not affected, then there is something up. Afaik all models with firmware SD15 can't be trusted.

If it's not listed in the recall, don't worry about it.  Keep your eye on the main announcement in the KB once a week or so to see if it comes up.  I enabled email notification but never got any so do it manually!

Lippy says type the serial number in caps.  I can't tell if the serial numbers contain zeros

or the letter O.  Being a serial NUMBER, I would assume they are zeros.  Correct?

It will always be Zeroes in a serial number.
