Can I recover files from a Seagate Sata HDD that experience short circuit?

I have a Seagate Hdd it is quite old, I think 1 or 2 years. And when I opened the PC, it turned off quickly and I can sMELL  a burning rubber or short wires, and the whole PC is not working anymore. Then I went to the repair shop and changed my power supply and my Seagate Hdd smoked. The technician told me it short circuit?

 

how can I recover files from this HDD. IM bought a new one and kept the Seagate Hdd..

 

IM hoping that I can recover files in this Hdd. I just need the files..

Look for a shorted TVS (transient voltage suppression) diode near the power connector. There are several success stories in this forum, including photos.

If you show us a photo of the board, one of us will be able to identify the part for you. If your new PSU can be trusted, then you can simply desolder the faulty diode, or snip it out with side cutters. The drive should work quite happily without it, albeit without protection on the corresponding supply rail.
