Hi ,
I have one maxtor DiamondMax10  160 GB sata2 HDD : 6V160E0 , which is incompatible with nforce2 mcp chipset , operating in sata1.5 Gb/s mode. changing the jumper position into J4 does not solve the problem  , on nforce2 ( also nforce3 , 4).
Is it possible to solve this problem , updating the firmware of 6v160e0 ?
If yes , how and where can I get a firmware for solution ?

I believe for firmware you should contact seagate, you don't want to get the wrong one and brick your drive.

I`ve contacted seagate , before  this forum   . But after 6 days I`ve received only auto-response from seagate which is not usable  at all .

have you tried their chat service?  you can get ahold of them instantly that way, i think they're down for the holidays though for now.
